North East London provider Chair recruitment
We are seeking to appoint three Chairs to lead three of the Trusts within North East London. Ideal candidates will have experience working at or near board level in large, complex organisations
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about our Trusts’ journey to improve patient outcomes and who can effectively hold Executive Directors to account while supporting them in delivering their ambitious strategies.
Dear Colleague,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to our recruitment site for the appointment of individual Chairs, for three of our Provider Trusts within the North East London Integrated Care Board (NEL ICB) – Barts Health NHS Trust, Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, and Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
As Chair of NEL ICB, I am incredibly proud of the collaborative intent and shared ambition that underpin everything we do to improve the health and wellbeing of the 2 million people who live in our diverse and vibrant health and care system.
We serve a system that includes some of the most diverse and dynamic communities in the UK, spread across eight local authority areas: Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge, Waltham Forest, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, and the City of London. Each area has its unique challenges, and as a whole system we are experiencing the highest rate of population growth in the country, high levels of deprivation and complex health inequalities. Our joint mission is to address these challenges head-on, by working with our residents and partners to integrate care at every level.
Our joint purpose is to work with and for all the people of North East London to create meaningful improvements in health, wellbeing and equity. We aim to deliver better health outcomes by ensuring that everyone in North East London has access to high-quality, timely, and compassionate care. We are committed to tackling health inequalities by focusing on the social, economic, and environmental factors that influence health, with particular attention given to our most disadvantaged communities. We work with individuals and communities to ensure that they can take greater control of their health by promoting prevention, self-care, and building community led solutions. Importantly, we work to foster collaboration between all health and social care partners, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the services we provide.
Our success is built on the strength of our partnerships, comprising a range of constituent organisations working together as a unified system as part of the North East London Health and Care Partnership. As well as our five trusts (Barts, Homerton, BHRUT, ELFT and NELFT), our partners include our primary care providers – general practices, dental services, and pharmacies – often the first point of contact for many of our residents. We work closely with local authorities from the seven boroughs and Corporation of London in our Integrated Care System (ICS). Additionally, community and voluntary sector partners play a vital role in engaging and advocating with residents, delivering services and offering new solutions. This collaborative approach allows us to align our efforts across healthcare, social care, and public health to provide truly integrated services.
Looking forwards, I firmly believe that by working in partnership, the North East London system will be a transformative force for good. To achieve this potential for North East London we need trust chairs, that understand both their leadership of their Trust and their wider role as part of the system leadership team.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your consideration of one of the Chair roles we now seek to fill at three of our NHS provider trusts. This is a critical time as we continue to shape a healthcare system that is truly responsive to the needs of our communities – if you would like to be part of this exciting journey, we would welcome hearing from you.
Warm regards,
Marie Gabriel CBE
Chair, North East London Integrated Care Board (ICB)
